Overview

Okay this is basically a repetition except more detailed. This is my weak attempt at journalism(but fret not it is not an ambition of mine).
Riquelme has been the best player of the tournament I'm sure everyone agrees.
However, as much as the common opinion states right now, that Brazil have been performing badly, I think that they have been brilliant. Of course they have not been playing the best football or winning by the biggest of margins, but what do you expect? Every team that has played them has aimed for a draw which has resulted in slightly negative football. All their star players have been marked tightly with coaches giving specific instructions to teams to not let Ronaldinho touch the ball or let Adriano shoot. But they still have. The goals have shown it. Kaka, Adriano and Fred. Who the hell is Fred? Exactly, the stars have been quietened down which is reasonable because after all they are stars but a mark of a good team is where every player plays well. There are eleven players on the field and twelve on the bench and they all matter. Put under all this pressure by the media and fans alike, they need a little more time to settle in, but no one can say they have not been playing well. 2 wins out of 2 has already secured them to the second round. Task 1 achieved. Furthermore, out of the 32 teams, only 6 teams have kept clean sheets and Brazil is one of them.

Moving on to the Real Madrid scene, Ronaldo will shine and come through with goals. He might look like a fat, ugly and useless retard who needs an orthodontist but he still has it in him.
Raul on the other hand does not. He poked the ball into an open net against Tunisia and they say he's back. Rubbish. He got lucky one moment and did not do anything else for the rest of the match. Torres and Fabregas ran the show. But we'll see in matches to come.
Zizou is the reason France is not going to win the world cup this round. The French team is built around a worldclass midfielder who can cut any defence into pieces with his through balls. The only problem is that that worldclass midfielder left a few years ago and has been replaced by a guy who has the same bad haircut and name as him - Zinedine Zidane.
The man himself David Beckham has been reasonable this world cup. An own goal credited to him and a fine cross for iRobot Peter Crouch has left critics little to say about the axis.
There is hope yet for the Galacticos in Robson de Souza (obviously better known as Robinho) for his displays so far though short have been sweet. Setting up a goal and having a few chances of his own in all of forty minutes he has played so far, the wonderkid has been impressive.

Ex-galactico Michael Owen has done nothing so far this world cup despite starting the first 2 games. His speed has been inversely proportionate to his age and his only asset has no depleted. Jermaine Defoe might have commited suicide knowing that not only was he not picked over a 17 year old but Michael Owen as well.

Enough of what we have seen, what we have not seen also deserves our attention. Often do we get excited before the match starts when we see the starting lineup but when the substitutes list is shown we merely let the moment pass. Theo Walcott is one name that I would like to see play in the world cup for sole reason that he is in the squad. Aside from him, Rooney, Messi and Tevez need to recover as fast as possible and Luis Aragones has to put Fabregas in the starting lineup. More importantly, a partnership of Riquelme and Aimar would be amazing if worked in proper order and that might just have a small chance of upsetting the Brazillians later on in the competition so, obviously Pablo should be playing.

Irrelevant as it might seem, it has to be said that the world cup channel, for those who watch on cable(unlike you cheap bastards who watch on tv3 and so on) has not been up to par. Player cam, though many do not see the need for it, has been a let down and their choice of replays have been disastrous. In the Spain vs Tunisia match, Fabregas shot a cracker which was struck away with a nice dive by the Tunisian keeper(definitely worth a replay). Shortly after, left back Marco Pernia took a shot from distance which went well wide of the goalpost. Strange thing is that wc27 replayed the Pernia shot 3 times immediately but the Fabregas shot once and only ten minutes later.

Despite all drawbacks, it is undeniable that the world cup has been a pleasant experience so far for viewers. 31 out of the 32 teams have played above average football and the few 0-0 scorelines aside it has been exciting. Therefore I leave you with my list of players in order.
